R. Kelly's Former Lawyer Who Helped Him Beat Child Pornography Charges A Decade Ago Says The Singer Was "Guilty As Hell"
Complex- R. Kelly’s former lawyer isn’t biting his tongue. More than a decade after he helped Kelly beat child pornography charges, veteran attorney Ed Genson told the Chicago Sun Times that the singer was guilty, actually guilty of those crimes—”guilty as hell” to be more precise. The 77-year-old spoke candidly about his ex-client’s behavior, but said he doesn’t believe Kelly hasn’t “done anything inappropriate for years.” Why is he so sure? Because he convinced Kelly to take medication to suppress his sexual urges.
“I can say whatever I want, but we’ve got to do it fast. It would be nice to get it down so somebody knows besides me,” Genson told the outlet. “I’ll tell you a secret: I had him go to a doctor to get shots, libido-killing shots. That’s why he didn’t get arrested for anything else.” Despite his assertion that Kelly was guilty, Genson said he wasn’t conflicted about keeping this disgraced singer out of prison. “I didn’t facilitate him. He had already done what he’d done,” explained Genson, who is battling terminal bile duct cancer. “I did facilitate him in the sense I kept him out of trouble for 10 years. I was vetting his records. I listened to them, which ones would make a judge mad.”
First of all, duh. We knew that R. Kelly was guilty as hell a decade ago but nothing happened. The dude was on video doing horrific shit to kids and somehow he walked outta that courtroom a free man. It’s crazy when you look back at it. There wasn’t a guiltier man on the planet but we were all like, “Yeah that’s really bad…….but how awesome is the remix to Ignition? Hot and fresh out the kitchen.” It seems crazy to say, “it was a different time” in regards to child pornography charges but it weirdly was. The coverage of it was certainly different.
So different that the most popular sketch show of all time made jokes about R. Kelly
Second, can a lawyer just come out and say a former client of his was guilty as hell? I’m all for R. Kelly’s former lawyer sewering him in 2019 and exposing him but that might hurt his business going forward. I can understand representing a person’s who’s guilty but a person’s who’s guilty of what R. Kelly did? I don’t knooooooooooow man. I suppose at the end of the day being a lawyer is like anything else. It’s a job and the point of a job is to make money and my guess is that mid-2000s R. Kelly paid lots and lots of money.
Even with that in mind though, this is CRAZY
I’ll tell you a secret: I had him go to a doctor to get shots, libido-killing shots. That’s why he didn’t get arrested for anything else.”
When you make your client take libido-killing shots so he doesn’t do anymore horrific shit, that’s when you gotta step back, look in the mirror and question what you’re doing. That’s a guy you gotta turn on and have him sent straight to prison because he’s clearly a menace to society. And look! Look what happened! He kept doing bad shit! Really bad shit! Throw that lawyer in jail too.
